This year's Best of Events took place from 10-11.01.2018 in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen.
With 10,400 trade visitors, the industry's leading trade fair once again attracts a five-digit number of visitors. The approximately 550 exhibitors from 13 countries also contributed to the success of the BOE. This year's fair focused on catering and event security.
As an exhibitor, the topic of event security through innovative guest management was of particular importance to us. For the first time in Germany we presented the registration kiosk with face recognition at our booth in hall 7. By photo upload (these can be passport photos, selfies or LinkedIn photos) in the online registration database a biometric profile was created. The camera at the desk records the participant's face on arrival and compares the recorded data with the stored biometric profile. This increases the security of your registration process for organizers.
If desired, a corresponding photo can also be printed on the name badge as an additional feature. This opens up new possibilities for security-related events such as annual general meetings and events with sensitive topics.
Another future focus for the use of facial recognition is the significant increase in speed. When in use, the camera can be set up before the actual registration kiosk. The participant is already
scanned on the way to registration and as soon as he reaches the kiosk his name badge is already printed out.
In addition, FastLane GmbH was BOE's registration partner for the first time. With 10 registration desks, the visitors and exhibitors, who came to the hall with a pick-up ticket including QR
code, were quickly and easily equipped with their trade fair badge - conveniently and without long waiting times. The badge was printed live in full-colour at high speed.
We are already looking forward to the next BOE, from 16-17.01.2019 in Dortmund.
